THE HOLOCAUST AND WAR CRIMES

For suggested reading on the Holocaust please see this page.

Please Note: The Holocaust is one of the most thoroughly documented events in human history. The physical evidence, documentary evidence, eye witness accounts and the confessions of many of the perpetrators leave absolutely no doubt that it occurred and that the Nazis intentionally and methodically were responsible for it. The Holocaust as a fact of history – the Nazis attempted the genocide of the Jewish people and the mass murder of millions of others – this is beyond dispute.

WORLD WAR II MEMOIRS AND DIARIES

Please note: Most memoirs and books written by Nazis in the post war period are not reliable as historical sources. They are usually written with the purpose of self-exoneration and/or promotion and are not objective in any sense. While they are often unintentionally insightful, the facts they present should only be believed only when corroborated. The exception to this are some writings on military tactics by former Wehrmacht officers. Anglo-American post war memoirs can sometimes be very “polished”espeicially when they have worked with professional writers. This is obviously both positive for a story and negative as a primary souce, however freedom of speech and fear of peer rebutal has led to many war memiors being very acurate accounts. Soivet memoiors and diaries should be treated with caution, usually the later the date and the lower the rank the more geniume the account is likely to be.
